Plywood Kitchen Design, Oxfordshire.

The brief:

We have known our customers for this Kitchen for quite some time and they have always paid a keen interest in design and the work we do here at Cherrywood Bespoke.

The old kitchen in their Oxfordshire village home was tired and wasn’t making best use of the space. To create a more seamless, sociable and light space our customers decided to carry out a small amount of structural work to open up the room and create the perfect space for their new kitchen.

The brief for this project was thorough with a very clear vision. Our customers wanted a Plywood Kitchen with a minimalist design using a stand-alone island to contain all of the necessary items. Symmetry was another key element to the brief and together we looked over many collated images that our customers had collected for inspiration to help shape the design.

The Vision

Based on the brief we opted for a Simplistic Plywood design with the warmth of the natural timber as a key visual. When designing the island unit, we created some innovative inner drawer features to allow for the exterior look to remain symmetrical, but the function be entirely practical.

We created a walk-in pantry to include all of the required storage and recommended that the American fridge/freezer be placed in its own alcove rather than being freestanding within the room.

In line with the over-all design style of the room we included a Bora Pure hob with recirculating extractor, perfect to compliment the minimalist visuals of this kitchen. Finally we an undermounted stainless steel tray was added to the island to house our customers cooking oils within easy reach of the workspace.

We utilized the light and comfortable space next to the window to fit the sink and a 2-drawer dishwasher, ultimately creating the perfect working triangle between the key areas in the kitchen.
