This creative project has been incredibly interesting and uplifting to work on.  Our client, an artist with a fantastic eye for design, moved to this impressive Woodstock home with her husband a few years ago.  They renovated the house, adding an extension for their large kitchen dining room, back kitchen and office.  On the numerous visits we have enjoyed to their home, its clear it is a space for creating – full of art (including her own), collectable items, and a palette of colours within furniture and walls.  A comforting and yet vibrant environment that tells a confident story, a backdrop of quality, style and flair.

From the outset, she was clear about her vision: a large plywood kitchen, slightly mid-century in style, warm and courageous.  At the centre sits a long, elegant peninsula island supported by a centre piece walnut barrel table leg, handmade in our workshop. This was designed in to add a sculptural detail.

The palette of the kitchen is rich and considered featuring deep aubergine and burgundy tones paired with natural beige Formica laminates, all hand-pressed in our workshop by our master craftsman.  Every detail counts, particularly the cabinetry handles, which our craftsman are very proud of.  These are clever, unique designs, beveled out with an oak insert invisible from inside the drawer.  Its a subtle but striking detail that took many hours and significant care and precision to achieve. 

The kitchen also features a textured light worktop, a large aubergine Everhot and a generous plywood pantry cupboard.  Their extension benefits from lots of natural light which floods the space.  A traditional Belfast sink by Shaws of Darwen and classic chrome taps by Perrin & Rowe overlook the garden.  Every element works in harmony, a kitchen that is both functional and beautiful.  The kitchen was designed carefully to be seamlessly part of their creative balanced environment in keeping with the luxury interiors of her home.
