Headington, Oxford

Susan, her husband Anil, and their children live just outside of Oxford in a desirable area shared by many like-minded families seeking open space, parks, and excellent schools, alongside the culture and history of Oxford just a short bike ride away.  While working on the project, we discovered that Susan enjoys spending time at a pottery studio in Oxford, while her daughters attend art and creative writing classes in the city too. Many of the items within the kitchen were handmade by Susan at her potter’s wheel, bringing another personal layer to the home.

Part of the project involved a newly constructed rear extension, adding just enough depth and an abundance of natural light. The additional space has transformed the experience of the room, and the family are thrilled with the result.

For this beautiful and happy home, we worked carefully alongside our interior designer to create a bespoke Midcentury oak plywood kitchen with hand made handles and just the right amount of solid oak detail.  The design introduces the open shelving often associated with the era, alongside thoughtful practical features, including a chopping board shelf and a pantry cupboard with neatly integrated spice racks.
