The owners of this welcoming townhouse in Banbury, have undertaken a beautiful and thoughtful renovation, that involved moving the kitchen from the first floor, to the ground floor of the house.  With 2 young children, the previous kitchen no longer suited the way they wanted to cook, move around and enjoy family meal times.    They worked closely with our interior designer during the project on all aspects, enjoying the details and options a bespoke kitchen offers – the result is a truly refined yet functional family space.

The kitchen is a Heritage Shaker design, hand-painted in a rich, deep green, offset by pale stone worktops and aged brass handles. The island is the perfect size for prepping, working and eating – and is where they now choose to enjoy most of their family meals. The dining table in the open-plan adjoining room is mostly used for children’s projects and play, so the whole family can comfortably be together. The room is flooded with light from the garden on both aspects. On one side of the kitchen is the main sink run, with stone shelving, carefully chosen shelf brackets and wall lights. There is a very roomy Belfast sink on this run, along with all the functional elements, from the oven to the dishwasher and bin housing. The island stores the pans, cutlery, hidden pop-out chopping boards and other kitchen items.

On the opposite side of the kitchen, we designed a simple, tall and elegant Shaker kitchen pantry, home to the coffee station, deep drawers and deep doors with aged brass rails for storing spices and pantry items. The fridge-freezer space has built-around housing and a useful cupboard above. At the end of the kitchen, overlooking the pathway, is a window seat, handmade and painted in the same colour as the kitchen.
