SW14, London

The Brief
Ian and Annika got in touch to discuss their plans for a new bespoke kitchen for their London home. Having purchased an Edwardian property where they’d recently finished converting the attic, they decided that now was the time to look at an updated kitchen design that would better suit their growing family and modern London surroundings.
Having already extended outwards from the rear of their London property with a sympathetic single storey extension, they now had the space they so desperately wanted to create a spacious and bespoke kitchen interior. By incorporating large Velux sky light windows into the ceiling, plus a set of glazed bifold doors, the scene was already set for an extended social space that would effortlessly spill out into the garden on those warm summer nights.
When discussing plans with the cherrywood Bespoke team, Annika and Ian told us their vision for a light and airy kitchen design that would give them the space they needed for a number of different family and social activities across one room. The couple were also keen for a timeless look that blended effortlessly with the older, traditional parts of the house as well as the contemporary features.
The Vision
The vision:
To achieve the style and features that Annika and Ian wanted, we opted for a classic Shaker kitchen design. As this popular design style adapts beautifully to its surroundings, it seemed like the perfect fit when blending old with new, just like Annika and Ian wanted.
We knew that a kitchen island, plus a central focal point for their Everhot electric range oven was a must for the couple, as was their request to include a Belfast sink. Luckily, we managed to incorporate all of these elements into an entirely bespoke kitchen design that was custom made to fit perfectly into their new surroundings and cater for their busy family life.
In addition, we were also set the task of adding a made-to-measure utility room. This unique space required a lot of design ingenuity and it was imperative we got right in order to free up much-needed space in the main kitchen area. Coupled with the expert capabilities of our skilled cabinet makers and kitchen installers, the finished space looked fantastic and work effortlessly. We were then able to add in a small island with seating on one side to compliment the over-all feel of the kitchen and it sure it was a versatile, social environment. We used a light and natural two-tone colour scheme using The Little Greene Paint Company colours, letting Annika and Ian choose their final choice from a pre-selection of our choosing.
