SW London

Bright modern kitchen with white cabinets, a large island, and flower vases on the counters.

Tucked away in a charming cul-de-sac in the suburb of East Sheen, London, this home is the relaxed abode of a family of five with 3 young children. One of the owners is a part-time artist and author and her preferred palette is soft, feminine and understated. The brief included maximising storage and organisation and in our design we sought to create a feeling of peace and stillness.

The kitchen is a classic Shaker, finished in neutral colour-drenched tones, with subtle variation between the island and surrounding cabinetry. The room enjoys an abundance of natural light and a view into the garden, which forms a central focus of the space. Solid satin brass handles introduce a gentle warmth and elegant sheen. The island sits against a backdrop of full-height cabinetry, making the most of the Victorian proportions of the home. Storage is plentiful, with a pantry, larder cupboard, appliance and coffee station, and adjoining utility room. We particularly enjoyed styling the utility space with wicker baskets, traditional beadboard panelling, and a stacked washer dryer, creating a room that feels both practical and welcoming.
