We were immediately struck by  Luke’s approach to the design challenge, the high level of craftsmanship and quality of materials.  Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Yes, Luke and his team at Cherrywood Bespoke turn dreams into reality – but it’s not magic! We all worked really hard together. A couple of years ago we came to see Luke as we began planning how a new kitchen could form the heart of our house refurbishment. It was well worth arriving with fairly well worked-out plans, because Luke could immediately see the vision, and was quickly able to dig down into the detail. We were narrowing options, discussing pros & cons, and exploring prices and timescales early on. Where the rest of our build seemed to grind on ever more slowly, the kitchen was flying. Luke is a great listener and, at every stage, communication was just so fruitful – and such fun – that we had our suspicions he really loves his job. We were encouraged to visit the workshop when there were key decisions to be made, and Luke came to see us to size up the space and later tweak the design with us: we wanted a ‘tactile’ kitchen – one which felt as good to use as it was functional. ‘Bespoke’ meant two things to us before we started the project: fussy styling and unnecessary expense. Cherrywood Bespoke, though, is all about practical tailoring and carefully calibrated costs. We’ve ended up with a kitchen which has been painstakingly personalised – for cooking and socialising, as well as our pockets. At the moment, kitchens are hot – the central focus for home design – and estate agents tell us that a stylish, intuitive kitchen offers the highest return on our investment – potentially the biggest selling point for the home. Now it’s all done, though, there’s no way we are ever going to move … and we take as much pleasure in the superb craftsmanship all around us as we do in the knowledge that this was achieved through a richly rewarding collaboration – a truly ‘bespoke’ experience.

Layout

Start with your 3 most important items – cooker, fridge and sink. A practical shaker style kitchen is one that has a natural flow around it. Keep these 3 items as close as possible in order to lessen your movement from one to another.

Aesthetics

Try to create symmetry where possible with your shaker kitchen design. Our designers will start with the cooker and use this as a focal point, building the rest of the kitchen out using this as the centre. Following this approach will help us to arrange your cabinets in a way that is both practical and pleasing to the eye.

Appliances

Don’t have more than you need. Include the most important ones, and keep the shaker kitchen style principle of simplicity at the forefront of your design plans. The last thing you want is unused appliances taking up valuable storage space.

Worktops

We are huge fans of quartz to compliment our shaker kitchens. Using natural products is a must for us where possible, and it enables us to create striking finishes. We often use either silestone or ceasarstone for our quartz worktops.

Cabinet materials

We offer either birch ply or oak ply carcasses with our shaker style kitchens. Using a good, strong sustainable ply means our carcasses are robust enough for whatever life throws at them. Our cabinet doors and drawer fronts are made using tulipwood for its durability and its cohesive properties. All of our drawers are made using either solid oak or birch, but ply drawers are also another option – it will all depend on the vision you have for your bespoke shaker kitchen.

Choosing handles and handle colour are worth taking some time over. A great time to consider this is when looking at worktop and cabinet colour.

Our master craftsman are highly skilled in their workmanship and have meticuilous attention to detail required to guarantee premium designer kitchen quality. We work to the following standards without exception:

Perfectly spaced gaps between each cupboard and drawer creating a seamless linear perspective
Hinges chiselled out by hand to perfection
Solid wood dovetail drawers
Design led luxury hand finished handles and hinges in exact places
Solid wood doors and draw fronts made from maple or tulip, crafted in complete proportion with the cabinetry frames
Every cabinet is made by hand, finished and assembled entirely to check its balance and operation, before being dismantled and hand painted.
Fitters are thoroughly briefed to maintain our high standards during installation
